I found these videos on you tube today while I was home from church with sick kids. I love them. Watch this one and then go find the rest they are wonderful. (Mormon messages)

He's the newest addition to our family....
My favorite brother just became a dad on April 13th. (Also my mom's birthday.) I am so happy for both Nayt and Julie. Julie did an awesome job bringing him into this world. A side from Rhett, he is the cutest little baby boy I have every seen.
I love him already and wished we lived closer.

I just got done reading this book Charlie and the Chocolate factory to Rhett. Every night before tucking him in, I would read him a chapter or two. The new movie with Johnny Depp has been a family favorite here. I bought the book a while back, curious to find out which movie was more like the book.

While everyone one loves the classic Gene Wilder movie, you'll be surprised to find out that the Johnny Depp version is much, much closer to the book. Like almost exactly. Well except for the dentist part, but thats about it.

Direct quotes throughout the entire book, the songs are almost word for word to the songs in the book. The part where he builds a chocolate mansion for the prince of india, and how he found the oompa loompas in oompa land who worshiped the cocoa bean. All details and many quotes came strait from the book. I love when Mike Teavee asks mr. Wonka why he makes chewing gum if he thinks it's so digusting. and wonka says to Mike Teavee, "I do wish you'd quite mumbling, I can't hear a word you're saying". That's in the new movie and directly quoted from the book.

Veruca Salt was in a room with squirrels not geese. The title is even different in the old one. "Willie Wonka and the chocolate factory" vs "Charlie and the chocolate factory" like the book's title. Saying the old one is roughly based on the book.
I'm thinking it is much easier to display Roald Dahl's wild imagination on screen with all the amazing specials affects given today, than it was 30 plus years ago.

In my opinion, they are both great movies but Johnny Depp's/ Tim Burton's version is my very favorite. Of course we are a bit partial to Tim Burton around here.

McDonalds

What kid doesn't love McDonalds. And what parent does?
We had a bad experience a couple weeks ago at the lovely golden arches. My kids did a good job of eating all of their food so I let them go play. A minute later Rhett came back with a disgusted look on his face, he said the slide was wet and it stinks in there.
Sure enough, some kids had peed on the slide. YUCK!!! We left right after that. The poor kid was so disgusted. We stripped his shorts of the second we got in the van and then it was strait to the tub when we got home. Sometimes I question my good judgement when I take my kids to McDonalds.....
